One Simple Song

I get up every morning, I hit these city streets
I move though my daily groove, then I take me home to sleep
I stumble and trip, I lose my grip, I try to figure out where I stand
I’m just one more man on the burning sands, looking for some promised land

Faith really is a leap
And time really really does creep along
And all I got is one simple song
I’m singing, hey we’re gonna be all right

This ain’t based on empirical data, ain’t based on a set of facts
It ain’t no knowledge you can learn in college
And there ain’t no one you can ask
You could say I got a funny feeling, you could call it a whimsical hunch
But though it flies in the face of conventional wisdom
I just don’t worry too much

Baby, won’t you go to sleep
And sleep through the whole night long
Though it seems everything is going wrong
I’m singing, hey it’s gonna be all right
And faith really is a leap
And time really really does creep along
And all I got is one simple song
I’m singing, hey we’re gonna be all right
